Why is Discap in my voice call?
Someone with the "Manage Server" permission added it; Discord does not let a bot invite itself. Once installed, Discap's default is to join every voice channel the moment the first person enters, and to leave when everyone has gone or nobody has spoken for a while. That is why it can look like it appeared from nowhere: nobody pressed record, and the installer may not even be in the call.
The red card in the voice channel's text chat names who set it up. Admins can change the default so it only joins on /join, or keep it out of specific channels with /norecord.
What it does with what you say
While it is in the channel, Discap turns each person's speech into transcript lines with their name and a timestamp. Discord gives a bot a separate audio stream per speaker, so the names are exact; nobody is guessed. When the call ends, it posts one recap message: a short summary, the decisions, action items with an owner where one is clear, open questions, and any moment someone flagged by saying "Discap, clip that". The full transcript is attached as a plain .txt file. Members who took part may get a short DM with a link to that recap; the card says so up front, and each person can switch those DMs off.

Is Discap spyware?
No, and the reason is visibility. Spyware hides. Discap is a member of the voice channel you can see in the sidebar, its presence status says it is recording, it posts a card when it joins, and people who join mid-call get a notice too. If someone in the call asks aloud what the bot is, it answers once in the chat and points here.
It does not talk in the call. It is not a moderation bot: it does not flag words, ban anyone, or report anyone to the server owner, to Discord, or to anybody else. It does not sell recordings or transcripts. The one honest caveat: it does keep the audio and the transcript, and the recap is visible to whoever can see the channel it posts in. How to get out of a recording

What does not work: blocking or muting Discap on Discord. Blocking hides its messages from you, but Discord still sends your voice to every member of the channel, and the bot is one of those members. Only /optout keeps your voice out. Disconnecting the bot by hand also works; it reads that as "please leave" and stops auto-joining that server's calls for a while.
How to remove Discap from a server
This part is for admins. Open Server Settings, go to Integrations, find Discap, and remove it. Or right-click the bot in the member list and kick it. Either way, all new recording in that server stops at once. Content already stored stays until someone asks for it to be deleted; email support@discap.bot with the server name, the channel, the rough date, and your Discord user ID.
If you want to keep it but calm it down, /settings is the one panel: pick the recaps channel, switch auto-join from every channel to one channel or off, decide who may stop a recording, and turn the recap in the voice chat down to a short link so the call's own chat stays clean.

Did it record what we said before it joined?
No. It only captures audio while it is a member of the channel.
Can I read what it recorded?
The recap and transcript are in the server's recaps channel (or the voice channel's chat). If you cannot see that channel, an admin can show you or ask support to delete your part.
Does it record in other languages?
It transcribes English by default; an admin can pick from about 24 other languages in /settings. It never translates.
Can I tell it to leave by voice?
Not yet. A spoken "Discap, leave" is on the way. Until it ships, Not this call on the card is the one-press exit.
Does opting out also delete my old recordings?
No. Opting out is forward-only. For deletion, ask support and name the server, channel, and date.
