About Discap

Discap is a Discord bot that turns voice calls into notes. It joins a voice channel when people start talking, records each speaker on their own track, and writes down what was said as the call goes. When the call ends it posts a recap to the server: a short summary, the decisions, the action items and the open questions, with the full timestamped transcript and the audio.

Why we built it

A lot of real work and play happens in Discord voice channels: raids get planned, podcasts get recorded, study groups work through problem sets and small teams hold their standups. Almost none of it is written down, so the plan is forgotten by the next session. Discap keeps that memory for the server, and anyone with access can ask it about past calls with /ask.

How we treat recording

Recording is never hidden. Discap sits visibly in the voice channel and posts a recording card when it joins. Anyone in the call can end the recording for that call, pause it for ten minutes, or keep their own voice out with /optout. Admins choose where recaps are posted and whether Discap joins calls by itself. The details are on How recording works and in our Privacy Policy.

Who we are

Discap is a TMP Systems product. People Make Things, Inc., based in San Francisco, operates the Discap bot and this website. Discap is free to use, and it is built for every kind of server: gaming groups, podcasts, study groups and teams.
